Anna, you asked: How do you formulate an idea into a story?
I start with a snippet of an idea, and let it grow very very slowly. I’ll get bits of ideas and scribble them down on whatever paper is nearby (paper napkin, receipt, music program), toss the bits into a notebook, and keep adding to the pile, sometimes for years. I’ll play with ideas, rearrange them, add to them – until the story has taken form in my head. Only then do I actually start “writing” the manuscript.
